The 23-year-old, who started Wolves' first five Premier League games this campaign, damaged his medial collateral ligament (MCL) and anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL) at Villa Park back in September.

The Colombian arrived at Molineux in the summer of 2021, when Bruno Lage was still in charge - signing a five-year deal.

At the start of 2024, he went on loan to Villarreal in La Liga, where he made 16 appearances and scored two goals.

On returning to England, he was a regular in Gary O'Neil's team at the beginning of this campaign until he suffered the injury eight minutes from time in the clash against Unai Emery's side.

Wolves are set to play Villa in the return fixture this weekend, and Mosquera has been speaking about his long road to recovery.

“My recovery is going really well," he said. "I will be pushing it further as soon as possible. I had an appointment recently, and the doctor said good things, which is really important because I can see my progress.

“At the moment, I’m in the gym and I will be ready to do a lot of things. I don’t know when I’ll be back on the pitch, but I know it’s closer, and everyone’s happy to see me progress.

“The most important thing now is how I feel, I need to stay positive about everything. I feel strong, I feel positive. I have a good plan to improve my body.

“The staff are here for everything. They showed me how I’ve progressed, and they give me help, which is really good. I need to stay focused. I need to stay calm, because it’s a big injury and I need to recover well. My mentality is positive, always.”

Wolves are in a really difficult spot right now. They are third from bottom having taken 16 points from their 23 Premier League games.

Their defensive record has been awful, with only Southampton (53) conceding more goals than Wolves' 52 so far this season.

And Mosquera says watching the team struggling is difficult for him.

“I know the situation for the team, and it’s really hard for me," he continued. "Because I want to play, but it’s impossible at the moment. We know we have good players, and I believe in them, and that’s how we are as a group.”
