The 25-year-old, who joined Salop in 2023 after leaving Carlisle, was involved in a nasty collision in the Town penalty area at Edgeley Park.

The defender was down for more than 10 minutes until he was eventually stretchered off and taken straight to hospital.

Shrewsbury tweeted on Wednesday morning to say Feeney had been given a 'clean bill of health' and discharged.

Speaking in his press conference before Shrewsbury's League One clash against Mansfield this weekend, the head coach gave an update on the defender's wellbeing.

He said: "I spoke with Morgan on Wednesday. He is up and about, which is great.

"There was nothing shown on any scan or x-ray that we had to be concerned about.

"I think it was just one of those moments where, if you watch the slow-motion footage, it's horrible. He really gets an extension of his neck there that you shouldn't naturally be able to do.

"His chin almost touches his chest. I don't know who lands on him, but it really forces his head in a horrible position. I think a crack was heard.

"Once that happens, you've got to get him on a spinal board and go total precaution. Again, I've got to reiterate that we cannot thank the medical teams enough. Both my medical team and the team at Stockport, the doctors, the ambulance people, they've acted superbly well.

"Morgan's been seen walking into the training ground this morning, which is brilliant, so really, really pleased.

"He's obviously going to be stiff, and I think it's probably almost like a whiplash injury he'll have, more than anything.

"Brilliant to see him up and about and nothing serious. It is the important things in life. We did lose a game of football, but Morgan being healthy was paramount to that."
