AFC Telford United sign defender while midfielder departs
AFC Telford United have reshuffled their pack ahead of tomorrow's game with Redditch United, announcing the departure of experienced midfielder Kyle Storer and arrival of defender Jahdahn Fridye-Harper.
Storer, who turns 38 in April, has struggled for game time since his red card against Banbury United in December, starting just three times despite the Bucks' squad depth crisis.
The former Nuneaton Borough and Solihull Moors man initially joined Telford in January 2024, reuniting with former Nuneaton boss Kevin Wilkin after Borough's withdrawal from the Southern Central Premier last season.
He began the 2024/25 season as the Bucks captain but struggled to match the consistent performances he found in last season's run in, and recently lost his place in the side to young loanees Harry Hawkins and Max Brogan.
A mutual agreement has been reached to cancel Storer’s contract as Telford continue to trim their squad and wage bill.
Manager Kevin Wilkin has been keen to add reinforcements to his ranks as well in recent weeks and has bolstered his defensive options with the arrival of former-Barwell right back Jahdahn Fridye-Harper.
Telford lodged a 7-day approach for the 27-year-old, who can also play in central defence, and after successful talks he could make his debut tomorrow afternoon at the SEAH Stadium.
Asked about his new signing’s qualities the Bucks boss said: “He’s a very strong, athletic boy who has slowly worked his way up the football pyramid.”
Wilkin added: "He wants to further his career, and he will provide competition across the defensive line.”
