Market Drayton Town hit six in return to winning ways - round-up
Market Drayton Town won for just the second time in 2025 with a 6-2 trouncing of Stockport Georgians.
A remarkable second half saw all eight goals scored after the break as Dan Dawson's hosts took advantage with two fine quick-fire goals within 10 minutes of the restart.
Ollie Jones broke the deadlock with a stunning volley after a free-kick was punched away by Stockport's goalkeeper. Sam Finney doubled the advantage just two minutes later after Armando Wood had been denied following a mazy run.
Georgians struck back on the hour and cranked up the pressure but Drayton bagged a crucial third through Joel Reece with 20 minutes to go and went goal crazy.
Hanock Boakye made it four with a stunning strike into the top corner after cutting in from the right flank. Jones added his second for five and Reece did likewise for six in the dying seconds - the latter after a Stockport penalty.
Drayton's first win in six helped them up to ninth in North West Counties First Division South. They trail the play-off places by 11 points.
Boss Dawson said: "It was a fantastic performance. We earned the right to play from the first minute. The first half was tetchy and tight. The first goal was really important. We scored some great goals."
Elsewhere in the division Allscott Heath are three points from safety in the final relegation place after a 4-0 defeat at promotion-chasing Abbey Hulton United.
Rock-bottom Shawbury United's clash at leaders Winsford was rained off on Friday night.
In Midland Premier Shifnal Town maintained their position in second with a comfortable 4-0 home victory over Romulus.
Kyle Byrne opened the scoring on half hour but the promotion seekers pressed home their dominance after the break as Isaac Phillips tapped home just before the hour.
Substitute Nathan Kabeya struck a third after a fine individual run and then laid one on for Taylor Need in the closing stages.
Sixth-placed Whitchurch Alport lost ground in the play-off chase with a 4-2 defeat to 1874 Northwich, who are two places better off.

The damage was done from the visitors in the first hour at Yockings Park as Adam Shillcock's hosts trailed 3-0. Freddie Bishton pulled one back from the penalty spot but 1874 struck another before an own goal consolation in stoppage time.
"It was a little bit of a hangover from Tuesday (3-0 defeat at AFC Wulfrunians) and let's be honest a little bit of men against boys, that's what it looked like," Shillcock said. "We over-complicated things at times and quality evaded us."
Alport now trail the play-off places by nine points, though do have games in hand on rivals and host Stone Old Allyenians on Tuesday.
