The Welsh swimmer repeated her feat in the 100m backstroke of two years ago by securing a top-three place in Hangzhou, China.

Davies, 28, finished tied for third with Australian Minna Atherton in a time of 56.74 seconds. America’s Olivia Smoliga won the title, clocking 56.19, with Hungarian Katinka Hosszu taking silver, seven hundredths of a second behind.

Davies will be back in action today when she contests the 50m backstroke.
