Silver for Charlie Carvell in under-20 final
Charlie Carvell celebrated the finest individual finish of his sprint career with a 400m silver in the European under-20 Championship.
The 19-year-old prospect from Bridgnorth went two better than in Estonia two years ago to record second place in 46.08, just losing out to Denmark’s Jónas Gunnleivsson Isaksen with 45.86.
The Telford Athletic Club star ran a PB and first career sub-46 seconds with 45.92 in his heat.
Carvell will also compete in tonight’s 4x400m relay final at 7.16pm British time.
Elsewhere, Bridgnorth’s Dan Galloway, also of Telford AC, clocked a sixth-placed finish in the 1,500m final yesterday.
