The 13 clubs left in the Furrows Shropshire Premier Bowls League will decide if the gap created by the resignation of Ford is filled for this season at a special meeting next week.

An all-important vote will be taken at an EGM on Tuesday at Meole Brace BC in Shrewsbury at 7.15pm – just ahead of the league's annual meeting.

League secretary Mark Burroughs said: "Only the league's clubs can decide whether we go ahead with 13 teams this season or invite another club in.

"I know many were unhappy that we had only 13 last season after Childs Ercall pulled out."

Burroughs added Hadley USC, who lost by six shots to Ludlow-based Burway in the play-off final in October, had confirmed their interest in the vacancy created by Ford's exit due to a lack of players of sufficient standard.

Hadley, who won the Mid Shropshire League's first division by 24 points last year, were founder members of the Premier League in 1994 but were later forced to withdraw, citing a shortage of committed players.
