Captain Mick Harries insists no-one is getting carried away by Bylet's victory at Archibald Worthington in the Flowfit Shropshire Premier League.

The division's bottom side had won just one of their first nine matches prior to this 8-6 triumph, which came against the side one place above them.

They recovered from a tough start, which saw them win just one game in the front four, to take the victory by a single shot 209-208 on aggregate.

But Harries said: "Any away win in the league is a good result but there is such a long way still to go this season and we need to pick up more points at home.

"We probably had the rub of the green when in a lot of games we haven't quite had that previously.

"It was a good team performance and we are pleased we have got a win but it is back down to earth now for this Friday's home game against Castlefields, which is massive for us."

Nick Powner was the team's only winner in the front four and his 21-20 win over Dave Gourlay provided a crucial turning point in the match.

From there they won five of the next eight with Paul Lill, Rob Steventon, Matt Ealey, Harries and Chris Chamberlain winning to 18, eight, 15, 10 and 11 respectively.

Jason Groom also battled from 19-12 down to lose 21-20 to John Paddington and it proved a vital rally.

It was a good night for away teams with Burway, Bowring Chester Road and Sir John Bayley all enjoying good results on their travels.

Burway were the best of the four sides, going down 8-6 at Wrockwardine Wood, only dipping out on the aggregate by five shots 199-194.

The two Clees led the way for the home side, father Phil winning to four and son Stuart to seven to earn the home side the extra two aggregate points.

Bowring lost at Castlefields by the same score, losing the aggregate 229-203.

Sir John Bayley lost 9-5 at Wem USC while Chester Road went down by the same score at Hadley USC, but both visitors will have been pleased with a healthy points return on the road.

At the top, champions Newport gained two points on leaders Meole Brace with a 12-2 home win over Ifton.

Meole Brace, who now lead the table by just five points, beat St Georges 10-4.
