The Roaders lost three of the first four games but fought back to run out 9-5 winners on a rain-hit night that saw three matches postponed.

Skipper Paul Fowles said: "It was probably our best performance of the season after being 3-1 and 5-4 down to a very good and loud team.

"My boys held it together well to turn it around as it was a very boisterous game where both teams gave it their all."

With the top-two clash between St Georges and Sir John Bayley one of the games hit by the weather, Meole Brace jumped up to second with a solid showing in a 9-5 defeat at Ifton.

The visitors had hopes of going away with a terrific victory but three winners in the back four helped see Ifton home.

Ifton skipper Dickie Jones said: "It was another good game between the two sides. In the end, it was a fair result."

Bowring were the only Telford-based team to survive the downpour and were rewarded with a 10-4 win over Wrockwardine Wood.

Glyn Hayward was the hosts' best winner while Dave Lloyd was MVP. Visiting skipper Tom Langford picked up both awards for Wrockwardine.

Bowring captain Rich Lawson said: "It was a good home win for us, considering the amount of rain that fell.

"The green stood up to the weather well though, and although a couple of yards slower I though we adapted well."

A clean sweep of the middle four, including a comeback from 14-2 down by Ben Allen, helped Burway post a 10-4 win over Hanwood.

Also among the Burway winners was Wayne Rogers, who made it 13 wins in a row with his 21-9 success against Dave Payne.

Hanwood bounced back with a 10-4 win over Ifton in a rearranged game played on Sunday.

The hosts' Tony Hotchkiss and Dave Burton enjoyed big wins to three and four respectively, while Leighton Roberts' 21-13 victory was the highlight for Ifton.

Friday's bottom two clash between Hadley USC and Bylet and the game between Newport and Wem USC fell victim to the weather.
