Roaders looking for 12 points from trips
Leaders Chester Road have set a 12-point target from their next two games to stay at the top of the Flowfit Shropshire Premier Bowls League.
Captain Paul Fowles believes his Whitchurch side need to pick up half a dozen winners from their trips to Bowring and Burway to keep the pack at bay.
"We've got two away games now and if we stay in contention then we've got a chance," said Fowles.
"A couple of years ago we won 11-3 at Bowring but they're a stronger team now so if we can get five or six there and 12 from the next two that will put us either top or one or two behind.
"We have an awful record at Burway but in the last two or three years we've had to pull players in from all sorts of places because some of the lads don't want to travel from Wrexham as it's a 140-mile round trip."
Paul Griffiths replaces the unavailable Paul Williams tomorrow night as Chester Road's only change.
All eyes have been on St Georges this week as the title contenders have three games in four days.
The Telford side started their glut of matches on Tuesday with a 9-5 defeat at second-placed Sir John Bayley which left them fourth, 11 points behind Chester Road.
St Georges were back in action last night at struggling Wrockwardine Wood before finally taking to their home green tomorrow evening against Bylet.
The bottom two – Hadley and Bylet – clash tonight, while tomorrow, at the top, Castlefields host Ifton. Bayley and third-placed Meole Brace are at Wem USC and Wrockwardine respectively. Newport host Burway and Hadley go to Hanwood.
