Ade Humphreys and Kelly Richardson team up for title
Ade Humprheys and Kelly Richardson have built on their fine records in the Oswestry League’s Mixed Pairs by winning it again.
Winners of this and other league titles, they had never won the Mixed Pairs together – until Sunday.
That’s when they teamed up at Church BC and ended the day by beating mother and son, Jane and Kieran Jones of Llanymynech, in the final. “The competition was played on the wonderfully manicured Church club bowling green and a good field of 31 enjoyed a great day’s bowling in Oswestry,” said league comps chief Trevor Roberts.
“Winners Ade Humphreys and Kelly Richardson (Chirk/Johnstown) beat Chirk pair Kara Jones and Jamie Waugh in their semi-final.
“The game of the day though was the second semi in which youngster Keira Edwards of Johnstown and Weston Rhyn’s Derek Taylor narrowly lost to Jane Edwards and Shropshire junior Kieran after a great comeback.
“The final was a close encounter for the first half-a-dozen ends before the excellent lead bowling of Kelly gave them the platform to pull clear, from six across, and run out worthy winners.”
And that burst denied Kieran a second title in the month, having recently won the Tanners Shropshire League’s Under-18 singles for the Harold Kaye Trophy.
