Darrell Handley of Premier newcomers Highley won the Reg Miller Open at Stockingford in Nuneaton with a string of super scalps.

He beat local star Shane Day 21-9 in the final after accounting for Jamie Wyer (21-3), Darren Plenderleith (21-8) and semi-final rival Carl Fielding (21-19) on finals day. Handley won 16 of his 22 games as Highley topped the Mid Shropshire League en route to their Premier play-off final victory over Hanmer.

But he missed the club’s Shropshire Cup final triumph over Prince Hotel due to being in an open competition’s finals day on Merseyside.
