Home bowler Burnside landed the trophy on Sunday at Cleobury Mortimer by beating Jenny Goodall of Chelmarsh 21-12 in the final.
But in the semi-finals Burnside had to take on her mother Lesley, the league’s secretary, beating her 21-15 while Goodall was accounting for past title winner Mo Parton of Stockton 21-18. And league treasurer Jeanette Bennett was delighted to see eight bowlers contest the title just short of a year since her husband and league driving force, Mark Bennett, passed away.
