Ladies bowled over by presentation
Another super season has been celebrated by the popular Telford Ladies’ Afternoon Bowling League.
More than 100 bowlers and friends attended the annual presentation lunch at Sinclair Sports & Social Club, in Ketley, when chairwoman Sybil Rhodes and secretary Carol Faulkner handed out the prizes.
Sir John Bayley retained the first division championship with only runners-up, Bridgnorth Gold, managing to beat them, while Bowring topped division two.
Bridgnorth’s consolation was that Lesley Winwood won the divisional averages award with 15 victories from 16 league games, Shifnal B’s Shirley Hadley taking the division two prize with a 13 out of 14 record.
Hadley and team-mate Janet Wright received the Joyce Barnes Doubles Trophy with Eth Harris of Horshay Gold the Champion of Champions winner for 2023.
A delighted Faulkner said: “Our annual prize presentation saw 104 ladies attend the event, which went really well.”
The league’s six-a-side matches are on Monday afternoons and officers will hope to add to the 17 teams who completed the season for next year’s programme.
