Winter bowls series sees 107 take to greens
The popularity of the winter bowls series now run by Bandit Bowls saw it smash through the three-figure entry barrier for the second week running.
An incredible 107 bowlers competed in round two at Adderley on Sunday, leaving promoter Jamie Brookes elated – but with plenty to ponder.
“It was another fantastic turnout but, for once, I hadn’t mentally planned for these high figures - and therefore the finishing times were a little wayward,” admitted Brookes.
“The Adderley green held up and really ran well and all bowlers seemed to enjoy playing on it, with another 14 newbies taking part, which is brilliant.
“So the only thing left is for me to get on top of the ‘entries to hours’ conundrum.”
The big guns dominated the seven round robin groups that made up the third and final session at Adderley with the table toppers being Callum Wraight, Stuart Rutter, Gary Whitehall, Steve Morrey, Kerry Dance, Richard Proudlove and Dave Bamford.
The host club’s star veteran, Alan Boulton, was a session two success while the early morning groups saw Brookes and his son Will top their tables.
Other group winners were:
Terry Howard, Daz Fielding, Ian Howell, Paul Sheehan, Ben Hinton, Jock Timlett, Chris Makin, Dave James, Barrie Thomas, Jordon Millman, Andy Sneddon, Mitch Haynes, Paul Smith, Lee Walmsley, Adrian Lalley and Roger Haynes.
