Evans, who attended a three-day training camp with the England boxing squad over the weekend, is joining Maelor ABC in Wrexham, where he spent some of his childhood.

The light-welterweight, 18, believes he stands a better chance of making next year's Commonwealth Games if he becomes a Welsh champion.

It comes alongside an end to the club's 51-year existence and Robb will join Donnington, working alongside Tristan Davies. His nephew, Cameron, has already made the switch to box.

Shrewsbury ABC's old gym on Lebens Drive was burned down in an arson attack and they have failed to agree terms on a long-term lease on that and their new Smithfield Road base.

Robb said: "It's with great regret that Shrewsbury ABC will cease after 51 years. I would like to thank the team for all of their years of dedication, for giving their free time to help produce champions.

"That's not only for the past three seasons since I have been in charge as head coach, but all of the past trainers who produced many champions for the club."

A number of their 100-strong members have been absorbed into Salopian ABC which is one of two amateur clubs left in the town, alongs with Shrewsbury & Severnside ABC.
