The 17-year-old, who has reached four national finals at club level, will travel for the tournament in Kolobrzeg from November 20th to 29th.

He's been assessed by international selectors at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield over the last two weeks, writes Craig Birch.

The slick southpaw, who switched from Wellington Boxing Academy to Merridale in Wolverhampton last year, is the one pick at the weight.

First box-offs were used to whittle four 52kg hopefuls down two, before Tuqir got the final nod after a three-day training camp at the EIS.

It's a twist of fate for the talented teenager, who has fell at the last hurdle in two Schoolboys, Junior and this year's Youth national competitions.

But Tuqir has won medals for England, claiming gold with the Tri-Nations title four years ago and bronze at the Youth Three Nations in April.
