Bradley Thompson set for pro debut
Telford boxer Bradley Thompson is ready take his frustration out on his opponent when he finally makes his professional debut next weekend.
The former amateur star – brother of English bantamweight champion Liam Davies – has had to wait patiently for his pro bow after seeing boxing shows curtailed for large period during the Covid-19 pandemic. But now, finally, Thompson has a date with destiny.
The former Donnington ABC fighter appears on Fight Zone’s maiden show at the Fightzone Arena, Sheffield, on May 21.
“The last year has been a bit frustrating having my debut in Telford cancelled and then not really knowing when I was out,” Thompson admitted. “However it’s just given me more time to work on my craft and keep building on things in the gym, I knew I just had to stay ready.
“Not knowing when I was going to get the call kept me focused because I knew I could have six weeks notice or an opportunity could pop up in short notice and I wanted to get out as soon as I could, so I made sure I was on my game.
“My brother Liam also won the English title while we were in lockdown so I was able to prepare with him. I’m very excited to showcase everything I’ve been working on since I came over to the pro ranks and I think with my amateur background I can go a long way.
“I’m excited to be on Fight Zone; I think it’s a good chance to show everyone what I’m about. I’m ready to show people what I’m made of.”
