Bridgnorth's James Ralph aims to take his chance

Bridgnorth batsman James Ralph plans to make the most of his recall to the Shropshire ranks for their Minor Counties Championship opener at Wiltshire on Sunday.

The stylish stroke-maker, 38, has impressed with two knocks of 40 plus and an 80 in the Cricket Meadow outfit's Birmingham League campaign.

Now he has been drafted into the county ranks along with Shrewsbury's Steve Leach, Whitchurch's Omar Ali and Wellington's Joe Clarke after work commitments ruled out Shrews quartet Ed Foster, Rob Foster, Tom Cox and Alex Blofield.

"My aim is to get as many runs as I can and put pressure on the players whose names are first on the team sheet," declared Ralph.

"I've had some good scores with Bridgnorth and I'm in decent nick although I'm also a bit nervous as it's my first county game for a while."

Shropshire will entertain Wales in the last eight of the MCCA Knockout Trophy at Shifnal CC on Sunday, June 16 (11am).

And Shifnal is the venue when Shropshire return to limited overs action for a T20 game against Worcestershire on Wednesday (5.30pm).
