Shrewsbury pick up fourth league victory
A stand of 132 between Ed and Rob Foster set up Birmingham & District League Premier Division champions Shrewsbury's fourth win of the season.
They beat Dorridge by 13 runs, with opener Ed Foster making 90 to top-score in the London Road side's 217 all out.
And his second-wicket partnership with captain and brother Rob (57) laid the foundations for a win that took their side into the top half of the Premier Division table.
But there was still a frustrating batting collapse for Shrewsbury to contend with as they slumped from 160-1 to their eventual total with Rob Foster's dismissal sparking a clatter of wickets that included 5-39 from Dorridge seamer David Ball.
Sam Griffiths then claimed 4-43 as Dorridge were dismissed for 204, despite 56 from opener Valeed Butt and 43 down the order from James Hemstock.
Spinner Elliot Green claimed 3-48 for Shrewsbury as the win took them sixth in the table, 20 points clear of the relegation zone.
Behram Ali claimed 6-35 as Whitchurch defeated Eastnor by 133 runs in Division Two.
Openers Mohammed Ishtiaq and Maisam Hasnain Jaffri shared a partnership of 136, laying the foundations for Whitchurch's total of 229-6 in 48 overs. Ijaz Yousaf made 48 and captain Omar Ali 30.
Whitchurch then skittled their opponents for 96 with Zafran Ali claiming the first three Eastnor wickets on his way to figures of 3-18.
The result left Whitchurch fifth in the table and 31 points behind the top two.
Matthew Gregson starred with bat and ball as his seven-wicket haul sealed victory for Oswestry in their Division One survival scrap with Wombourne.
Gregson hit 72 down the order to help his side recover from 50-6 to post 205 against their rock bottom opponents.
And he then snared 7-36 with his left-arm spin as Wombourne were dismissed for 170 in reply.
After Ed Denham (4-43) and Ashfak Hussain (4-81) had blown away the Oswestry top order, Gregson shared in a stand of 121 for the seventh wicket with Darren Papier, who top-scored for the Shropshire side with 79.
Both men hit 11 fours and three sixes with Gregson's 72 coming off just 53 balls.
Wombourne then reached 70-1 in reply before Gregson took a catch to remove opener Ruan Markram to break the home side's resistance.
Gregson then baffled the Wombourne lower order to bowl his side to victory.
Wellington captain Wendell Wagner's half-century and five-wicket burst sealed a 71-run win for his side against Old Hill.
Opener Neil Edwards blasted 77 from just 41 balls with nine fours and five sixes to set an aggressive tone for the Wagner's men.
And the captain's all-round display then made sure of victory for his side.
He made 50 with the bat as his side made 217 then took 5-73 as Old Hill were dismissed for 146 in reply.
He received excellent support from Anthony O'Connor, who took 4-28.
Muhamed Ayub's century was not enough to spare struggling Shifnal from defeat to mid-table Harborne.
Ayub made 115 and shared in a 93-run partnership with opener Tom Collins (72) as Shifnal posted 276.
Worcestershire bowler Graeme Cessford claimed 4-53 and new-ball partner Jack Edwards 3-83.
But they could not prevent Harborne claiming victory, as they reached their victory target with three wickets to spare.
A five-wicket blast from David Exall inspired Bridgnorth to victory in their Division Three clash with Shropshire rivals Newport.
Exall claimed 5-30 and Sam Whitney 4-41 as Newport were dismissed for 149, despite a promising opening stand between the Furniss brothers.
Robert Furniss made 43 and Paul Furniss 31 but Amardeep Sonkar (24) and Craig Atherton (10) were the only other Newport batsmen into double figures.
Shropshire captain James Ralph then made 68 at the top of the order for Bridgnorth, as they raced to a seven-wicket victory inside 30 overs. Tom Weston hit an unbeaten 35 as his side reached 152-3.
Victory leaves Bridgnorth fourth in the table, 23 points outside the top two, while Newport remain in trouble in the relegation zone, second-from-bottom and 28 points adrift of the safety line with only Penn below them.
Quatt boosted their survival chances as opening bowlers Craig Jones and Gareth Jones claimed a total of seven wickets to inspire them to victory against Milford Hall.
Alex Biddle's side remain in the bottom four but they are now just 13 points away from the safety mark after Craig Jones (4-30) and Gareth Jones (3-32) set up a two-wicket win.
The pair did the damage as Milford were rolled over for just 102. And they got home despite being in trouble at 76-8 in their run-chase.
They lost no more wickets as an unbeaten 20 down the order from Jimmy Arbuckle saw them home with opener Elliot Parker unbeaten on 19.
