Worfield still on top after a hard-fought victory
Delighted Worfield captain Nick Hudson hailed his team's win against Wroxeter Grove which kept them top of the Shropshire League Premier Division.
On a difficult pitch made worse by two rain delays, George Nock and Tom Pickerill were the batting stars scoring 78 and 52 respectively as Worfield declared early on 233-6.
Nick Benwell (34) and Ed Davies (39) did their best to inspire a Wroxeter Grove fightback but they were eventually bowled out for 115.
Hudson said the result was mainly due to inspired bowling by Gagandeep Singh, who took 6-22, and Joe Arnold, 4-40.
He said: "It really was a fantastic win. The elements were against us, but I won the toss and we then batted very well with Nock and Pickerill superb.
"We then went off for rain so I decided to declare, but not long after we came out there was another huge downpour.
"It all got a bit quiet our end because they started well and had a good partnership with Benwell and Davies which took them past 90, but Joe Arnold bowled superbly well and broke up the partnership.
"Gagandeep Singh then showed some real inspired bowling to secure what really was a great win. He has 68 wickets now for the season which is an unbelievable effort."
Hudson believes the win keeps alive the team's hopes of winning the county's top cricket league, with a clash against second-placed Reman Services taking place on the penultimate weekend of the season.
"It's boiling up nicely," he said. "If it comes down to a straight shoot-out in that game, then let the best team win.
"Saturday just shows anything can happen and I'm thrilled with my lads because they showed so much passion.
"We now head into the clash with Newport hoping the weather keeps, because if we put in another top performance we will win."
Meanwhile, Frankton recorded the surprise of the weekend with a comfortable six-wicket away victory against Wem.
The home side, who remain in third place despite the loss, were all out for 93 with Sam Peate (27) and Dave Powell (11) the only batsmen to hit double figures. A quick-fire 41 from Frankton's Nalaka De Silva helped secure a comfortable victory for Frankton, with Chris Rogers 18 not out in their 94-4.
At the top, Reman kept their title hopes alive with a nine-wicket victory away to Allscott.
Allscott's Chris Starling hit an impressive 50 with the home side eventually bowled out for 151. But a huge 73 from Malcolm Serplet helped secure the win for Reman (152-1) which keeps his side in second place.
Fifty-one from Jason Summers wasn't enough to prevent Albrighton losing away at Bomere Heath.
The away side got off to the worst possible start, with Mark Walburn out for one and Ismail Anwar following for a duck.
Iain Anderson (37) steadied the ship before Summers' impressive knock, with Albrighton eventually bowled out for 125.
When Bomere Heath's Andy Flann was bowled for six, Albrighton sensed victory. However, Henry Dawson (33) and Chris Edenborough (34) secured the win with the home side eventually finishing on 126 for just seven wickets.
Elsewhere, Ludlow & South Shropshire (176-4) enjoyed a comfortable home win over Cound (76), with Ludlow bowler Matthew Kennedy taking four wickets for just one run.
And St Georges (104-3) enjoyed a seven-wicket victory at home to Newtown (100). Solid scoring from St Georges included Gareth Hughes (29), Muhammad Zaheer (28), Jamie Griffiths (23) and Tylor Trenoweth (21).
