The second-ever Champion's Day took place at Ludlow Cricket Club on Sunday, with three evening cricket league teams competing in a bid to add some extra silverware to the trophy cabinet.

Tenbury Wells, winners of the South Shropshire Twenty 20 League, were joined by Quatt, winners of the Broseley Bash.

Grasshoppers, runners up in the Shrewsbury and District Evening Cricket League, also took part.

However, there was no place for Shrewsbury League champions Wem who were unable to field a team.

In a round-robin contest Quatt first took on Grasshoppers with captain Hayden Cargo top scoring with 42 runs as Quatt finished on 135-7 from their 20 overs.

In reply Grasshoppers were all out in 16 overs for a total of 113.

The next match saw Tenbury Wells take on Quatt. Tenbury won the toss and chose to field, with Quatt amassing 155 runs for the cost of seven wickets - Hayden Cargo again top scoring on 52 not out.

Tenbury started well with Zack Yarranton scoring a quickfire 21, at 10 overs. Aaron Morris then added 41 with Tenbury needing three runs from three balls.

In came Sam Sivetor who hit the next ball for six with Tenbury winning by two wickets.

The result meant everything was to play for in the final game with Tenbury able to claim the title if they won with Grasshoppers still in with a chance if they scored enough runs.

Grasshoppers won the toss and elected to bat. Bryn Simmons hit 88, Ian Simmons 32 and Andy Harrison hit 35 which took their total to 222 from 20 overs. In reply Tenbury were were bowled out for 76 in 15 overs, Sam Sivetor getting 36 of them.

Grasshoppers won it on net run rate, with captain Joe Yapp lifting the Champion's Day trophy.
