Nick Hudson's side travelled to Albert Road knowing a win against second-placed Reman would see them promoted to the Birmingham Premier League for the first time.

And the captain said his side saved their best cricket for the crunch tie – with Worfield running out comfortable winners – finishing on 231-5 after bowling the home side out for 226.

Hudson said: "We are champions at last and it is very pleasing to be able to say that.

"Saturday was a really good day. We played really well on a good batting pitch. To restrict Remen to 226 was brilliant.

"Gagandeep Singh, Will Cook and Oliver Plank also batted excellently and Tom Pickerill, George Nock and I chipped into to bring home the title.

"It really is a massive achievement for the club, we have gone from sixth in the division to being promoted to the Birmingham Premier League."

The captain said winning the title is reward for all the hard work the team has put in over the season.

He said: "We have worked very hard and and played some quality cricket.

"We have fought hard to win games that we had no right to win and I've really got to say well done to players who have been excellent.

"I have been on at them all season, rying to get them to do the right things and they have responded. They really deserve to enjoy this."

Hudson said the players celebrated at the club on Saturday night and will hold an end of season party after the final game against Frankton.

He said: "We had a little celebration! We went back to the club and had a few beers before drinking champagne out of the trophy.

"Some of the players went on to Bridgnorth as well but they deserve it. To go from sixth to winning the league is a big turnaround – they have been brilliant."

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the table, Allscott had their relegation to Division One confirmed after St Georges beat them by eight wickets.

Albrighton and Newtown are likely to join them after they both lost on Saturday.

Ludlow & South Shropshire comfortably beat Albrighton by 201 runs while Newtown lost by two wickets against Cound.

The two sides, who are separated by just a point, could both go down after Newport and Quatt were relegated from the Birmingham League..

Elsewhere, Frankton beat Wroxeter Grove by 178 runs and Wem beat Bomere Heath by 49.
