A dominant all-round display saw Ellesmere surge to victory against Bridgnorth Endowed School.

Ellesmere won the toss and batted first on a very good wicket and made an excellent start to the clash.

A fine opening partnership of 75 between captain Sam Ellis (37) and Matt Batkin (52) put them in a strong position.

Tom Furnival (29 not out) and Conor Davies (23) also scored freely enabling Ellesmere to score 180-3 from their 25 overs.

In reply, Bridgnorth were soon on the back foot as Furnival struck in the first over and, from then on, the visitors chipped away taking wickets on a regular basis before the hosts were dismissed for 61.

Harry Newton took the star role with 4-15, while Batkin completed a good all-round performance by taking two wickets and deservedly winning the man of the match award.

Ellesmere will now go on to represent Shropshire in the national round of the competition next summer.
