The London Road outfit have now lifted the title three times in the past six seasons and Saturday's 113-run victory over Walmley secured this year's crown with one game still to spare.

Shrewsbury's total of 225-6 from their 50 overs was built around 54 from Steve Leach.

The visitors were then dismissed for just 112, with the Barnard brothers taking all 10 wickets between them.

Worcestershire's Ed Barnard was the pick of the bunch, posting figures of 4-24, while older brothers Mike and Steve took 3-29 and 3-30 respectively.

Incredibly there were two other sets of brothers in the Shrewsbury side, with Joe Leach and Steve Leach also playing alongside Ed Foster and the side's skipper Rob Foster.

Club chairman Richard Chapman said: "We are highly delighted to win the league once again. We had some very big celebrations on Saturday night and all the players thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

From left, brothers Steve, Mike and Ed Barnard took all 10 wickets.

"To achieve what we have with three groups of brothers makes it even more special, while the performance of all three Barnards against Walmley really was smashing.

"It led to a very impressive scorebook. This title is very much deserved because all the players have fought hard over the year.

"There isn't one player I could pick out as a star man. I have been delighted with all of them."

Captain Rob Foster was equally delighted with the win, adding: "The season has had its ups and downs but we've stuck together all year and really kicked on.

"We have played some great cricket. We play against some massive clubs in the Birmingham League and punch above our weight.

"It's a fantastic achievement for a small town like Shrewsbury to do as well as we've done.

"We are just a local group of lads with a lot of brothers in the side who have stuck together and grown up together in the last five or six years.

"It all started under Ed's captaincy back in 2008-09. A lot of the boys have matured into players that are starting to produce week in and week out for us."

While the celebrations were enjoyed by the side, Foster is already turning his attention to the next campaign – and sounding a warning to the rivals.

Foster declared: "We have never defended our title, which is something we'd like to do. We'll enjoy this – but in the weeks and months we'll turn our attention to next season and trying to defend it."
