Jones is in a 15-strong party that will play six 50-over matches and two Twenty20 fixtures during a tri-series.

The action gets under way on March 27 against their Australian counterparts – the Commonwealth Bank Shooting Stars – with Sri Lanka women A also taking part in the tournament.

Jones, who coaches cricket in schools across north Shropshire for Shropshire Cricket Board and privately at Ellesmere College, came through a 'leadership camp' at Loughborough University last year.

Head Coach Mark Robinson said: "The standard of international women's cricket has stepped up a gear over the last 18 months

"The matches will provide a good challenge for all of them to test their skills and aim to impress ahead of the domestic summer."

Last season Jones was part of a joint England senior and academy squad that travelled to Dubai and played Australia, opening the batting and scoring 50 in a 50-over game.

She also had a good year domestically as she enjoyed promotion with Staffordshire to Division One – the Premier League of women's cricket – and a regular place with Whitchurch men's team that avoided relegation in Birmingham League Division Three.
