Henshalls Insurance Brokers, based in Newport and Shrewsbury, is backing the league for the new season.

Mark Freeman, for Henshalls, said: "We're very proud to be associated with the league.

"The opportunity to align our name with such a prestigious organisation in the county sporting world was something we were extremely keen to take up.

"We were particularly keen to support it as many of our staff have played in or supported Shropshire League teams in the past.

"It is integral in many local communities, and a successful breeding ground for teams and players to climb the cricket pyramid."

Freeman said sponsoring an organisation like the county league was all part of the Henshalls ethos of putting something back into the local community.

He added: "We support more than 20 local causes across Shropshire, but Henshalls has taken a strategic decision not to pursue highly visible corporate sponsorships.

"We want to dedicate executive and employee time and financial resources to reach out to as many parts of our local community as possible."

Mike Hall, for the Shropshire County Cricket League, said the support from Henshalls was a real boost for the organisation.

He said: "We're always working hard to attract corporate sponsors from across the Shropshire area, and to sign up a name like Henshalls is a definite coup.

"We hope their commitment to our cause will encourage other well-known businesses to join our team too."
