Kabir Ali hit the winning runs with two huge sixes to earn Chris Rogers and Co victory in the third ball of the 16th over to eclipse their target of 172 with five wickets down.

Kabir's cousin Kadeer Ali topscored with 47 off 27 balls for Wellington before he was caught on the boundary by Ben Cox off Tom Kohler-Cadmore, cutting behind.

Earlier, Worcestershire – who beat Yorkshire at Headingley the day before – posted 172, dismissed with three balls to spare.

Cox was their star with the bat, hitting 72 off 44 balls before being caught on the boundary by Bilal Shafayat in the 17th over.

Dan Lloyd, aged 18, claimed 3-24 for Wellington, while home captain Wendell Wagner took 2-17.

The game featured several connections, with Adam Shantry, who teaches at Shrewsbury School, guesting for Wellington and facing younger brother Jack, who bowls for Worcestershire.

With Moeen Ali unable to make the game because of his England commitments, Rogers' Somerset team-mate Gamaal Hussain also guested for Wellington.
