Harry Newton picked for Bunbury Festival
A second Shropshire-based student has been selected to play in the prestigious Bunbury Festival.
Off-spinner Harry Newton, a pupil at Ellesmere College, will play for the North in the tournament which sees the cream of under-15 cricketing talent from across the country go head to head.
He joins Oswestry top order batsman and spin bowler Xavi Clarke, who has been selected to play for the Midlands, at the tournament from July 17-22.
Harry lives near Whitchurch just over the Cheshire border and made his debut for the Ellesmere College's first XI when he was in year nine. He plays his club cricket for Nantwich.
This season he helped Ellesmere College to the national semi-finals of the under-15s competition, where they lost to eventual winners Manchester Grammar School.
He is following in the footsteps of older brother George, who also played at the festival and attended Ellesmere College. He is on a cricket scholarship at Shrewsbury School.
