Wellington look to kick on as Bridgnorth bid to bounce back
Wellington will be hoping to add to Bromgrove's recent woes when they head to Worcestershire tomorrow.
Bromsgrove have slipped towards the lower reaches of the Birmingham League Division One table despite boasting a power-packed batting line-up.
And after defeating lowly Sutton Coldfield last weekend, Wellington's first team coach Ross Edwards is looking for more success against another struggling side.
"I know a lot of people are surprised at where Bromsgrove are in the league," said Edwards.
"In Ash Newfield, Jayden Levitt and Alexei Kervezee they have three of the best batsmen in the league.
"You look at their side and think things will change for them, but we just have to make sure that's not the case tomorrow. We played well last weekend, it was a complete all-round performance and are looking to build on that.
"The division is very tight and a few wins on the bounce and you are looking towards the top four again."
Skipper Sam Whitney has backed Bridgnorth to bounce back after their three-game winning streak was brought to an end.
The Cricket Meadow men host Barnards Green tomorrow in a mid-table battle.
Last week's home defeat to Brockhampton halted an improved run of form that has seen Whitney's men put some distance between themselves and the drop zone.
But the captain insists he has every confidence in his men to respond.
"It's a shame our winning streak has come to an end," said Whitney. "But with so many guys missing it was always going to be a tough game.
"Dan (Vernon) smashed it everywhere and disappointingly he was the only guy in the top six to get going.
"He had some good support from Weav (Thomas Weaver) and Cam (Cameron Wallis) late on, but by then the game had gone. We've got some tough weeks coming up now, but I'm still backing the guys to produce the results we need.
"We've shown how well we can play and there's a lot more work to do if we are to stay in Division One. But I'm sure we can bounce back. The quality is there."
