Jack Edwards leads the way for Shifnal
Jack Edwards led the way with the ball as Shifnal returned to winning ways in the Birmingham & District League Division Two.
Left-arm seamer Edwards claimed 4-36 to help his side clinch a six-wicket victory against Wombourne and put the previous week's defeat at Penkridge behind them.
Spinner Jack McIver (3-36) also did some damage as the visitors, who opted to bat first, were dismissed for 118 inside 41 overs at Priorslee Road.
Steve Leach hit 29 and Charlie Home an unbeaten 33 to see the hosts to victory.
Shifnal skipper Tom Collins said: "It was a much-needed win after last week. It was a good wicket and we would have batted first as well.
"Right from the outset we bowled in good areas. I thought it was a minimum 200 wicket so it was a really good effort."
Oswestry went close to an upset at leaders Tamworth but had to settle for a winning draw.
Wicketkeeper Junaid Cassiem top scored with 50 and Robert Clarke made 46, as Oswestry reached 165 before being dismissed midway through the 53rd over.
Charlie Morris took 3-22 to leave the hosts struggling but they held out for 136-8 at the close.
Henry Blofield produced a stunning display to spin Shrewsbury to a third straight Premier Division victory with a 31-run success at Kenilworth Wardens.
Blofield almost single-handedly went through the home side's batting line-up, as his 8-67 helped dismiss Wardens for 158 in reply to Shrewsbury's 189-9.
Skipper Rob Foster hailed Blofield's performance, but also praised his entire bowling attack.
Sam Griffiths chipped in with two wickets and the visitors restricted Wardens to 35 runs off the first 19 overs.
Foster said: "We played very well and it was pleasing to win. Henry was terrific. It was a good wicket for bowling spin on, but even still.
"He always bowls well, he's pretty consistent. There's other days where he's bowled just as well but things haven't gone for him. Saturday was his day.
"There wasn't a lot in it for the seam bowlers but they bowled tightly, which got them behind the rate."
Shrewsbury were earlier indebted to an unbeaten 57 from Adam Shantry, after a collapse with the bat following an opening partnership of 75 between Ed Foster and Will Parton.
Foster added: "I thought our score was about par and we were very grateful to Adam. A couple of our dismissals we were disappointed with and a couple didn't go our way.
"But it was difficult against the slow and spin bowlers. It was hard work once the new ball had gone and the pace had come off it."
Skipper Sam Whitney inspired his Bridgnorth side to a four-wicket Division Two victory over Barnards Green at Cricket Meadow.
Whitney picked up five wickets in a game where the batsmen on both sides struggled for runs.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, the visitors lost wickets at regular intervals and needed some late resistance from Kevin Golder and Patrick Brown to reach 120 all out.
Whitney finished with figures of 5-36 while fellow spinner Dan Vernon chipped in with two wickets.
An opening stand of 51 between James Ralph and David Exall had the hosts looking comfortably on course for victory.
But when Ralph departed for 39, Barnards Green began to fight their way back into the game.
A number of batsmen went cheaply but an unbeaten 32 from Mark MacPherson-Lees saw Bridgnorth over the line.
A quickfire century from Indian overseas professional Bhargav Merai enabled Wellington to return from their trip to Bromsgrove with a winning draw.
Merai smahed 111 off 85 balls – with 19 fours – and shared in a stand of 114 with Tom Masters for the seventh wicket.
Masters finished on 57 not out as Wellington posted a daunting 291-9, boosted by an opening stand of 57 between Daniel Vaughan (31) and Dan Lloyd (25).
But Bromsgrove, who were without Worcestershire batsman Alexei Kervezee, boast one of the better batting line-ups in the division and never allowed Wellington a sniff of victory.
Adam Byram picked up two wickets, with one apiece for Lloyd and Merai, but 55 from Ashley Newfield and 61 not out by Jayden Levitt enabled the hosts to hold out and reach 243-4 from their 55 overs.
Former England international Phillip De Freitas rolled back the years to deny Worfield a third straight Division Three victory.
The 50-year-old ex-Leicestershire and Derbyshire all-rounder showed he is still a danger with the bat to guide Aston Manor to a two-wicket success at Church Road.
De Freitas fell two short of a century, in an innings that included 12 fours and three sixes, as the hosts chased down Worfield's 228-8 with 13 balls to spare.
Will Wier was a constant menace for the visitors and finished with figures of 4-55, with Patrick Butler also taking two wickets.
Butler had earlier been the star man with the bat as Worfield set a challenging total. He made 82 off 121 balls and shared a third-wicket stand of 51 with Ross Aucott.
Whitchurch's hopes of avoiding relegation appear slim as they were convincingly beaten by Streetly at Heath Road.
After being put in by the visitors, a batting collapse left Whitchurch in deep trouble at 28-7.
Skipper Alex Huxley led by example and his 50 helped his side reach three figures, before they were all out for 108 in the 34th over.
Amjaad Ali Khan enjoyed some success with the ball to claim three wickets, but the visitors were able to cruise to a six-wicket success.
A below-par batting performance also proved costly for Newport as they lost by seven wickets at home to Astwood Bank.
Opener Ian Gillespie (48) helped the hosts, who were without skipper Mark Downes, get off to a solid start. But he found support in short supply apart from 28 from Ryan Jakeman.
Newport were all out for 148 with Jack Price (4-20) the chief protagonist for the visitors.
Ed Parton, Joe Watson and Jamie Prew all claimed a wicket for Newport but an unbeaten 50 from Tom Underhill helped the visitors home in the 32nd over.
