Sentinel pick up crucial win
Sentinel boosted their chances of survival with a victory over Stourbridge – while Newport stunned table-toppers Streetly.
Andrew Harrison claimed four wickets as Sentinel restricted Stourbridge to 255-8 after putting the visitors into bat.
Opener Ben Mathews got the reply off to a great start, and Jamie Wear finished the job with an unbeaten 88 that saw Sentinel home with nine balls to spare.
Newport produced an impressive bowling display to dismiss the league leaders for 124 inside 41 overs. Ian Gillespie was the star man with 3-12 off just five overs.
Opener Paul Furniss made 31 for Newport, which proved to be their top score.
But there were enough contributions throughout the innings for the visitors to reach their target with four wickets to spare.
Although Mark Downes’ side are still not mathematically safe, one win from their remaining two matches will be enough to secure Division Three safety.
