The Shropshire side endured a terrible collapse against Bromsgrove last weekend when they were chasing 108 to win from a position of 105-6. But they failed to get over the line and slipped to another Division One defeat on Saturday following another poor batting display.

Skipper Simon Khomari top scored with 17 while Tom Masters added 10. But the entire team were dismissed in just 78 balls with all 10 wickets shared by Brockhampton’s Jamie McIlroy and Toby Abernethy.

On a tricky wicket, the Hereford-based side got into a spot of bother themselves, at 31-5. But an unbeaten 21 from Chris Powell saw them to a victory that leaves Wellington bottom of the division.

Elsewhere, Bridgnorth were comfortable winners against Leamington Spa.

Bridgnorth restricted their visitors to 196-8 with Adam Quiney returning impressive figures of 5-47, from 17 overs.

The Shropshire side were then sent on their way to victory by an opening stand of 106 between Ian Gregory (60) and Ryan Lockley (60). And when Gregory was dismissed, his brother Simon (52no) steered his side to victory.

Shifnal remain third in the table after skipper Steven Leach hit 94 to see them to a three wicket-win over Himley.

Jamie Turner (57) and Adam Finch (49) dug Himley out of a hole with a seventh-wicket partnership of 85 which took them to 217-9. But Leach’s class kept Shifnal hard on the heels of division leaders Kidderminster and Tamworth.

Meanwhile, Bromsgrove clinched a 21-run win over Oswestry from the penultimate ball. Warrick Fynn posted bowling figures of 3-61 in a Bromsgrove total of 239.

In reply, Oswestry could only manage 218 despite a brilliant 94 knock from Roman Walker.
