It was a vital victory as the four-wicket success over Brockhampton lifted them above the Herefordshire outfit.

Wellington dismissed Brockhampton for 200 after the visitors had won the toss and opted to bat.

Matt Stinson took 3-24 before an unbeaten 63 from Imran Arif saw the home side to 203-6 in reply, after he came to the wicket at 69-4.

Skipper Nick Powell took 3-25 to add to his top score of 31 for Brockhampton.

Warrick Fynn cracked a fifth century of the season as Oswestry continued their excellent Division One campaign with a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Bromsgrove.

After taking four wickets to help bowl out the visitors for 169, the county all-rounder then struck a sublime century as the Morda Road men cantered to victory in their penultimate home fixture.

His latest ton means Fynn is now tantalisingly close to a special double with two games to go – needing 11 more runs to complete 1,000 for the season and another six wickets for his 50.

After winning the toss, Bromsgrove were always under the pump as the home spin attack, skilfully led by the wily Fynn, restricted their run rate. Fynn was to strike first, clean bowling opener Jayden Levitt for 40 with the score on 67.

He then removed in quick succession Ryan Pedley and Aaron Thomason, who were both trapped lbw.

Partnered by the ever improving Sam Davies - fully justifying his call-up to the first team – Fynn turned the screw as Bromsgrove subsided to 113-5

After Charlie Morris had opener Ashley Newfield caught and bowled for a patient 49, there was little resistance from the visitors who were finally dismissed in the 45th over.

No other batsman reached double figures, with extras (29) being the third highest scorer.

Fynn was the pick of the Oswestry bowlers, pocketing four wickets at a cost of just 10 runs off his allotted 10 overs.

Davies returned figures of 1-25, also off 10 miserly overs. with an impressive display of off spin. Morris collected 3-57 with Joe Carrasco taking the other wicket to fall.

Oswestry made a positive response and, despite losing Carrasco for 10 with the score on 39, Fynn continued to dissect the opposition field with his trademark driving, pulling and cutting.

Joined by skipper Robbie Clarke, he put on 95 for the second wicket, before Clarke was caught at backward point for an attractive 28.

Brother Joe, having finished his county match with Worcestershire a day early after Lancashire’s dramatic run chase at Southport, then came to the crease, and timed the ball effortlessly as the Oswestry pair sprinted home with 18 overs to spare.

Fynn, who had survived an early chance to the wicketkeeper standing up, completed a fine century.

His undefeated 103 came off 104 balls and included 17 fours and one six, while Worcestershire’s Joe Clarke, playing after the Pears’ clash at Lancashire finished early, ended on 28 not out.
