Wellington Amateurs push for top 10

Wellington Amateurs midfielder Callum Smart could be forced onto the sidelines for tonight's West Midlands League Premier Division game at home to Bewdley Town.

He was replaced for the last 20 minutes of Saturday's 2-1 victory against Bromyard Town at the Wickes Stadium with an ankle injury and is rated as '50-50' to feature.

Warren Davies, recently promoted from the club's reserves, could move upfield from central defence to fill the void, as he did during the latter stages at the weekend.

Joint boss John Psaras has been hugely impressed by the fledgling stopper.

He said: "He's been superb so far.

"His application, work-rate and quality has been fantastic."

Ams could break into the top 10 with Wednesfield not in league action.

But Psaras want to see spirit like the 4-2 losing effort against Black Country Rangers last Tuesday.

He said: "We are locked on 11th with the same points as the top 10, so it's there for us now.

"We have played Bewdley before this season and beat them convincingly.

"They are a decent side who have got stronger lately, so we need to be on our game.

"We have five wins, a loss and a draw from seven games, which I would have took.

"If we play like we did last Tuesday against Black Country Rangers, we will get the result.

"If we play like we did on Saturday, they might take the points off us.

"We raised our levels against Black Country Rangers and gave them a good game, opening them up a few times

"But we found it too easy when we played Bromyard.

"We didn't have that cutting edge to go and win the game by four of five goals, which we are capable of.

"The job now is to convince the boys that need to do more than turn up."

Meanwhile, Ellesmere Rangers welcome Cradley Town to Beech Grove tonight, hoping to bounce back after going down 3-2 at home to Wednesfield at the weekend.
