Cup semi-finalists yet no bosses: Ellesmere Rangers prepare for Wolverhampton Casuals clash
Ellesmere Rangers and Wolverhampton Casuals clash in the West Midlands League Premier Division Cup semi-final tonight with both sides looking for a manager.
The two sides square up at Beech Grove with Richard Brown in charge of the home side, having served as assistant to Delwyn Humphreys before he stepped down last week.
Casuals will be missing boss Carl Abbott, who has left to join the new incarnation of Hinckley United in the Midland Alliance.
His former club notched 98 points in the league but Ellesmere also finished strongly, climbing to 11th and winning their last 10 games in a row.
The winners will face Black Country Rangers or Wednesfield and Rangers director of football Alan Davis insists it's all to play for – whoever is leading the teams.
He said: "Both teams are manager-less and it's an end of season game. We have had a clear five days' rest.
"It's one last push for us and we still believe we can win the competition. If we can play as we can, we can definitely beat them.
"But they have a massive squad and can pull in players from everywhere."
