Caitlyn Smith, from Aqueduct, has her sights set on a professional football career.

Caitlyn Smith, from Aqueduct, is currently on a BTEC in Sport level three course at Telford College of Arts and Technology.

When she finishes her TCAT studies, the 17-year-old has been offered a ‘Gold Elite’ scholarship through College Scholarships USA, which provides talented students and athletes with the opportunity to study at American universities and compete in college sports.

Caitlyn, a former student of Idsall School in Shifnal, is a familiar face on the ladies’ football scene in Shropshire – she plays for Shrewsbury Town and Shropshire Under-18s, and also captains both Telford Under-18s and the TCAT team.

She said: “I’m learning the knowledge I need to guarantee my place in America when I finish the course.

“The course itself is fantastic. I’ve learned so much about sport and the body while I’ve been here, as well as other practical skills.

“My ambitions are to be a professional footballer, and I want to play in the Women’s Super League in England. As a lifelong Chelsea supporter, I would also love an opportunity to play at Stamford Bridge.”
