Wrexham deal is getting closer
Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have moved a step closer to completing their takeover of Wrexham.
The board of the Wrexham Supporters Trust yesterday released a statement to say contracts were exchanged following the conclusion of negotiations between the Trust board and RR McReynolds LLC.
The statement added: “Completion of the deal is now conditional upon a change to the Wrexham Supporters Trust rules – as approved by the members in November last year – being registered by the Financial Conduct Authority.”
Canadian Reynolds is most famous for his role as superhero Deadpool, while McElhenney stars in the sitcom It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
They were shockingly revealed last September as the mystery businessmen looking to invest £2million into the club.
Ninety-eight per cent of fans voted for the deal in November, and Reynolds said he and McElhenney want the Red Dragons ‘to be a global force’.
