Manchester City are thought to have Grealish on their list of targets for the upcoming transfer window but Villa are under no pressure to sell.

Instead billionaire owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens want to keep building a squad around the 25-year-old and are again expected to back boss Dean Smith in the market.

Villa have spent more than £200m since returning to the Premier League in 2019 and are on course to secure a top-10 finish in their second season back in the top flight.

Grealish, who signed a new five-year deal last September, remains central to the long-term ambitions of challenging in Europe.

The arrival of Sawiris and Edens in 2018 when Villa were mired in a financial crisis prevented Grealish from joining Tottenham, while their £70million valuation last summer proved too steep for then suitors Manchester United.

Grealish’s performances this season have only seen his value increase further while he has also made a long-awaited breakthrough into the England set-up.
