Ally Robertson: Too many 'if onlys' for West Brom – now Carlos Corberan must study market

It was a huge disappointment how things finished for us in missing out on the play-offs on the final day, but every club will think similarly and say “if only”.

Over the last four weeks, if we’d have beaten QPR at The Hawthorns after being 2-0 up, if we’d have held on to beat Sunderland, those two games would have had us in the play-offs, but other clubs will say likewise.

We’ve got to make sure we get everything done for next season now, over these weeks and months.

For me, you look at the picture earlier in the season when we were down near the bottom, and then bottom after Carlos Corberan came in, and for us to get back up to a position where we could have got into the play-offs on the final day, we’ve got to say it’s been a good effort.

But if we’d have started right – again another “if only” – we would have been in the top four and pushing for automatic positions.

The team gave itself too much to do. We played how many great games but how many not so good games?

I always go back to being a defender, if you don’t give goals away then you will win games. How many silly goals did we give away? Too many.
