Boss Andy Sinton today hailed keeper Ryan Young as key component of AFC Telford United's recent revival.

The Bucks are unbeaten in three Blue Square Bet Premier games since bowing out of the FA Cup with a 4-0 defeat at Chelmsford – keeping two clean sheets before Tuesday's impressive 1-1 draw at Luton.

And Sinton believes Young, who at 31 is back at this level for the first time since he was a teenager at Nuneaton, has been crucial to the rapid improvement.

"I don't like singling players out but Ryan Young has been superb in the last few weeks," said the Telford boss.

"There was a period a month or two ago when he went through a bit of a tough spell and I did think about bringing our second keeper Ryan Robinson in.

"But I decided to stick by Ryan and he has repaid me with some excellent displays.

"He has been brilliant for me since I came to this club almost 18 months ago and I really believe he is one of the best keepers in non-League football."

Young believes the FA Cup setback could prove to be a blessing in disguise.

"Chelmsford wasn't a good day but I actually think we needed it," he said.

"We'd had a few bad games and maybe that was the final nail in the coffin –the gaffer brought in a few new players and we've bounced back quite well."

Meanwhile, Telford will check on the health of loan striker Elliott Chamberlain when the squad gathers for training tonight.

Chamberlain was penned in to be on the bench at Luton but had to be withdrawn from the squad after suffering breathing problems during the pre-match warm-up.

Sinton, while concerned, is hoping the teenage forward is fit to join the team for this Saturday's trip to bottom club Bath City.
