Darren Read has been relieved of his duties as assistant manager at AFC Telford United – with former The New Saints boss Mike Davies this afternoon appointed in his place.
Davies, who has enjoyed success on the domestic and European stage with the Oswestry-based Saints, will take up his new post as manager Andy Sinton's No 2 this week.
Read will continue to be employed by AFC Telford, working with the youth team and in his community role at the Learning Centre.
Sinton said "I would like to thank Darren for his work with the first team and know that he will continue to work tirelessly for the club in his role dedicated to youth development at the club.
"We had to move quickly to bring in a replacement, but Mike is a great addition to the backroom team and will bring many qualities and skills that will help the club evolve."
Chairman Lee Carter said: "Darren will still play an important role at the club and will still keep a very close contact with the first team.
"Mike is an excellent addition to the back room team at the club.
"We are determined to be positive about the situation we are in and I see this as a positive step in the right direction."
Read – who was missing from the dugout for Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Grimsby – admitted he was disappointed to be leaving a role he has occupied since Sinton was appointed as Telford manager in the summer of 2010.
But he insists he still has a part to play as the club looks to establish itself in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
"I'm disappointed it's happened but on a positive note, Andy is still the right man for the job," said Read.
"He'll get things right and Mike comes in with a wealth of experience and brings fresh ideas to the table.
"It's a professional decision, not a personal one, and I'm still here to bounce ideas off whenever they require.
"Andy and myself are very good friends and we still spoke over the weekend.
"I will concentrate on putting more time and effort into the youth team and getting them closer to getting in training with the first team – and hopefully to getting into the first team one day."
