AFC Telford United's Kyle Perry admits returning to the New Bucks Head has been "a breath of fresh air," after his Lincoln City nightmare.

Now 26, Perry kicked off his career with the club as a teenager, scoring 32 goals in 68 games for the Bucks between 2004 and 2006 before joining Hednesford Town.

The big striker had spells playing in the Football League for Port Vale and Mansfield before netting 17 goals for Tamworth last season.

His prolific goal return impressed Lincoln and Perry signed a two-year-deal with the Imps in the summer.

The move soon turned sour and Perry was told that he was surplus to requirements by manager David Holdsworth in January.

That's when Andy Sinton swooped to bring him back to the club on loan, and Perry is delighted he did.

"Coming back to play here again was just what I needed," said Perry.

"It's been a breath of fresh air to feel wanted again and to come to a club with such a good dressing room.

"That is really important for a footballer and I enjoy being here and playing football in front of such brilliant fans."

The Birmingham-born frontman is famous for his robust style of play, and admits he relishes the physical challenge of playing in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

"I managed to gain plenty of league experience which will serve me well for the rest of my career, but I do have a lot of fun playing in this division.

"I think you need to be capable of mixing it up if you want to be successful.

"Just look at Crawley and Wimbledon; they knew when to play the pretty passing stuff, but they also knew when to throw it into the box.

"That is why they scored lots of goals and won enough games to get promoted."

The Bucks are visiting one of their bogey grounds tomorrow as the season is brought to a close against Gateshead.

But Perry is not worrying about the history between the teams. All he is worrying about is doing his best if called upon tomorrow.

"The gaffer has spoken a bit about the history up there, but I believe in playing every game as if it's your last and if you do that then you always have a chance.

"It will be tough, though. They are a good side who can score plenty of goals so we will have to be on our guard."

Perry still has a year left to run on his contract with the Sincil Bank club and he is refusing to divulge too much about what his plans are after the summer.

"I have really enjoyed the second half of the season here but I still have a year left on my contract at Lincoln so I do not want to say too much right now.

"Over the summer, I will reassess things and then we can see where we are."
