AFC Telford United's latest recruit Michael Briscoe insists he is ready to embrace the world of part-time football after completing the cross-Midlands switch from Kidderminster.

The 28-year-old defender agreed a one-year deal with the Bucks yesterday as boss Andy Sinton swooped for his second summer signing following the arrival of former Birmingham right-back Luke Hubbins.

Briscoe has spent the last nine years in full-time football since starting out at Coventry in 2003, but is confident he won't be affected by his switch in status.

"I discussed it with my family and felt this was the right thing to do," he said.

"It won't really affect me because I will keep myself fit and go to the gym or for runs on the days that we don't come into the club.

"I'm just really excited at being with Telford. I've been speaking with Andy Sinton for the last three or four weeks and I'm pleased to have it all wrapped up."

As well as having a stint in the Football League with Macclesfield, Briscoe has made well over 100 appearances in the top flight of non-League football for Kidderminster, Tamworth and Burton where he enjoyed a spell on loan under now Derby manager Nigel Clough.
