Sinton may bolster AFC Telford United squad as absences take toll

More new faces could be on their way to the New Bucks Head by the end of the week as AFC Telford United boss Andy Sinton looks to boost a squad hit by injuries and suspensions.

The Bucks boss, who saw his side continue their promising start to the season with a 2-2 draw against Stockport County yesterday, is hoping to add new recruits to cover absences in defence and attack, writes Matt Viney.

Talks have already taken place between Sinton and centre-back Jordan Rose, who has impressed since joining the Bucks on non-contract terms.

And with fellow defender Dan Preston and striker Jake Reid still facing two games out through suspension and forward Chris Sharp out with a hernia problem, Sinton is light at both ends of the pitch.

"We're still struggling because I lose the two boys that got sent off for three games," said Sinton.

"To compound that Jake Reid looks like he's damaged his hamstring so as well as being sent off we might miss him for a few games more.

"I would like to bring in a couple of reinforcements in before the weekend just to bolster the squad because we are down to about 18 or 17 selectable bodies.

"You could say that will ease in a couple of weeks but a couple of weeks is three or four games which can make a big difference.

"To cover the strikers they could be maybe just loans for a month but we need to look at the centre-halves."

Meanwhile, Sinton believes his side can match any side in the league following their draw with Stockport, given to them thanks to goals from Kieron St Amie and Ryan Valentine.

Sinton said:?"We are capable this year of going toe-to-toe with anyone in this league. It's a sign of how far we have come that we are disappointed that we haven't beaten one of the biggest clubs in the conference.

"I knew it was going to take time for the team to gel and settle, and for signings to pick their fitness up but I'm really encouraged with what I have seen five games in."
