AFC Telford wait to learn extent of injury to Luke Hubbins

AFC Telford boss Andy Sinton was today sweating on a fresh injury headache after his side's impressive start to the new campaign suffered a jolt.

The Bucks chief lost right winger Luke Hubbins to a hamstring injury in the warm-up before last night's 3-1 defeat at Nuneaton.

He is facing a race against time to be fit for Saturday's home game against Lincoln City, while defender Chris Blackburn, who has missed the Bucks' last two games because of a re-occurrence of a back injury, will require a scan to identify the nature of the problem.

Sinton admitted Hubbins' injury setback had affected his side last night, with the former Birmingham City midfielder having been one of Telford's brightest performers so far this season.

It adds to a growing list of sidelined Bucks players which includes injured strikers Chris Sharp and Jake Reid, as well as suspended defender Dan Preston.

"Luke's got a hamstring problem," said Sinton. "He's been a big part of the successful start we have had so to lose him 20 minutes before the kick-off, I would be lying if I said it didn't affect us or it wasn't a blow.

"But we just have to get on with it. Hopefully it won't be too bad. We'll see how it is but it is too early to say yet." Regarding Blackburn's injury problem he added: "He is hopefully going to have a scan just to see what the nature of his problem is. I have no idea whether he will make the Lincoln game yet. At the moment he can't train."

Meanwhile, Sinton said Telford were close to signing defender Jordan Rose.

The former Stockport defender arrived at the New Bucks Head on non-contract terms last month.

Sinton admitted that the player's impressive performances have also attracted attention from other clubs.

"We are close," said the Bucks boss. "We are probably just discussing the length of it, as to whether we just go through to December, the end of the season or longer."
