Steven Leslie eyes quick start for AFC Telford

Leslie, who is expected to retain his place on the left wing for Telford's trip to the Abbey Stadium, felt the Bucks did not get out of the traps quickly enough during last weekend's 1-1 draw at home to Lincoln City.

Phil Trainer's goal three minutes from the end of normal time was enough to earn Telford a share of the spoils against the struggling Imps.

But with Cambridge having also started the season erratically – two wins, three loses, three draws – Leslie believes the Bucks should be aiming to put the U's on the backfoot straight away.

"We started off the first half very slowly against Lincoln," he said. "They had a few chances in the first half and could have been three or four up.

"We had a few chances in the first half but it was one of those days where they put all the pressure on us and we went and nicked one towards the end.

"I think sometimes we just go into some games waiting for something to happen where as we've got to put them on the back foot from the start.

"We have got to turn that round, take it into this weekend's game and just go for it."

The game will kick-off at the slightly unfamiliar time of 5.15pm because it will be televised by subscription channel Premier Sports.

It will be the re-formed team's second live television appearance following their 2009 Setanta Shield final victory against Forest Green Rovers.

But Leslie believes there is no risk of the team being over-awed by the addition of a televised audience.

"Most of the lads here have played on TV so we will just take it in our stride," he said. "We have got nothing to prove because the TV cameras are there.

"We have just got to go out there and do our stuff and hopefully if we all gel together and have a good performance the result will come for us.

"I think once you are used to the cameras you forget they are there. I think we will thrive on it."

Despite the arrival of defender Liam Chilvers, Telford will go into the game still carrying injuries to several key men while Cambridge's ranks have been swelled by returning players and a new signing.

United have lost midfielder Harrison Dunk for four to six weeks after a cartilage operation, buthave Jonathan Thorpe and Andy Pugh fit after injuries and Michael Gash, Adam Marriott and Jack Eades all back from loan spells away from Abbey Stadium.

U's boss Jez George has also signed left-back Danny Andrew from Cheltenham Town on an initial one month loan deal.
