AFC Telford United No 1 loves FA Trophy

AFC Telford United goalkeeper Ryan Young admits he would love a run in the FA Trophy this season after his side edged past Nuneaton into the second round.

The Bucks today drew a trip to Kings Lynn in the second round of and will visit the Evo-Stik First Division South high-flyers on December 15.

Kings Lynn play their football three divisions below Andy Sinton's side but are enjoying a good season and currently sit in third spot.

But Young was more relieved to have seen the end of the team's seven-game winless run which had stretched back to October 9.

Four draws and three defeats had followed Telford's previous triumph, a 4-1 win at Blue Square Bet Premier League promotion contenders Dartford.

Steven Leslie's fumbled free-kick decided Saturday's first-round clash and the Bucks will learn their second-round opponent at lunchtime today.

Young said: "Of course, we would like a really good cup run but the main thing is we won on Saturday. It's not a league game but we have won for the first time in eight.

"It gets that little monkey off your back. We were shocking last week against Kidderminster but sometimes that is just football.

"We were that bad that we could only improve on that on Saturday and luckily we did that.

"It wasn't a game to play football, it was a game to put it in the right areas, work hard and fight hard and that is what we did."

Young added that new centre-half Michael Wylde should provide a solid replacement for Liam Chilvers following his arrival on Thursday.

He said: "He's big, strong, a good centre-half."
