AFC Telford No 1 still keen on being his own boss
AFC Telford United goalkeeper Ryan Young's taste of management has whetted his appetite for a job in the dugout when he eventually calls time on his playing career.
The 33-year old shot-stopper has just signed a new one-year deal with the club.
He was one of two senior player brought into a four-man management team when John Psaras became caretaker manager last month.
Along with midfielder Phil Trainer, he helped Psaras and assistant boss Alex Meechan run the side for the final nine games of the season.
Prior to his recent experiences, Young admitted he had never really considered a career in management but he has reconsidered in recent weeks.
He said: "I never thought I would be a football manager but when I got into it I found it quite good.
"There was no pressure on us because we were nearly doomed (to relegation when we came in)
"We were just there to get the spirit back into the team. We were dealt some bad cards with injuries but that's football.
"It is definitely something for me to look at towards the end of my playing career."
Young intends to look at getting his coaching badges in the future but the custodian, who will begin his seventh season at the Bucks in August, does not plan to hang up the boots any time soon.
He said: "I can do another three or four years as long as I look after myself, which I do. And I am going to do it a bit better this season.
"I think you have to look after yourself a bit better the older you get."
Young has been receiving physiotherapy to aid a niggling knee injury in the last week.
