Sean Cooke on road to recovery for AFC Telford
New AFC Telford United signing Sean Cooke is well on the way to recovery after fracturing his leg early last month.
Manager Liam Watson said the former Fylde midfielder should be all-clear to play a full part in pre-season training.
Cooke suffered a small crack in his fibia in Fylde's Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division play-off semi-final defeat to Hednesford Town.
The Bucks will report back for the first day of pre-season training on July 2, by which time Cooke should have been out of plaster for two or three weeks.
Watson said: "Normally you are only out for six to seven weeks for a little crack on your fibia.
"If he is out of plaster by June 11 or 12, then he has three weeks to get ready for the start of pre-season, so he should be back."
Cooke expects to be out of plaster within the next fortnight and he is confident that, following a brief bout of physio, he will be able to start training.
He hopes will be a successful debut season with the Bucks and the former Nantwich man shares Watson's ambition of promotion back to the top flight of non-league football.
Cooke said: "That is what I want, to get into the Blue Square Premier, whether that is going up automatically or winning the play-offs."
Next season, will be the first time Cooke has played league football at Blue Square North level.
But the former Crewe youth team player said he was confident he could successfully make the step up and he believes that his move to the Bucks will make him a better player.
He said: "Liam watched me a few times at Fylde and when the chance to join Telford came I thought it is a big club, it has better facilities and it would be better for my development."
Meanwhile, Mansfield Town boss Paul Cox has confirmed that potential Telford transfer target Godfrey Poku has been made available for loan or transfer.
